Franz Weninger’s family has farmed land in Central Burgenland for nearly 200 years. The “Ponzichter” moniker, ironically, comes from a derogatory nickname given to the German-speaking winemakers, referring to their farming practices. The “Ponzichters” were ahead of their time because growing beans among vines is tremendously beneficial.
