Schloss Gobelsburg traces its winemaking roots to 1171, when Cistercian monks were granted their first vineyards at the Heiligenstein and Gaisberg sites. Today, Michael and Eva Moosbrugger are producing world-class wines at the same sites. The Zweigelt vineyards are on well-draining, crushed gravelly stones that were formed during the last Ice Age and are particularly suited to red wine production.
