While working at Domaine Lapierre in 2013, David met his future wife, Michele Smith, a wine director in Brooklyn. In 2015, the Chapels relocated from New York to Beaujolais to found Domaine Chapel. Today, the Chapels cultivate 4ha of vines by hand on the picturesque slopes of Beaujolais, primarily in the Chiroubles and Fleurie crus.
